2007-2008 Researcher of the Year Award

AWARD CRITERIA

The Faculty Researcher of the Year Award recognizes current Edinboro University faculty member(s) who demonstrate outstanding expertise as researchers. While 'scholarly work' is important to individual faculty members and to the quality of our University, this Award specifically highlights individuals who are pursuing an active research project.

Each academic department can, by departmental vote, nominate one candidate for this year's Faculty Researcher of the Year Award. This departmental nomination and supporting evidence (as determined by the nominee's department) is forwarded to the Deans. Deans will submit a total of ten nominations (three from the School of Education, three from the School of Liberal Arts, three from the School of Science, Management and Technology, and one from the non-teaching faculty) and supporting evidence to the Faculty Researcher of the Year Committee. This Committee will make the final selection to name an award winner.

The departmental nomination should include the Researcher of the Year Nomination Form, the nominee's curriculum vitae, departmental letter of support (that addresses mandatory and optional criteria) and additional evidence to support the nomination.

Mandatory Criteria for Nomination*:

The nominee will have

  • Published quantitative, qualitative or multi-method peer-reviewed research (as defined by the department) within the last five years.
  • Established an extended and continuing record of commitment to research (as determined by the nominee's department).

Optional/Additional Criteria for Nomination*:

The nominee may also have

  • Made a commitment to foster student research.
  • Been recognized by professional organizations for his/her research work.
  • Made important contributions to his/her field (as determined by the nominee's department).
  • Pursued funding to support research.
  • Conducted research projects specific to campus or regional issues.
