Educator of the Year Award

AWARD CRITERIA

The Educator of the Year program recognizes current Edinboro University faculty member(s) who demonstrate outstanding service to the University, students and our neighboring communities.

Alumni, faculty, staff, students, retired faculty and staff and community members should submit nominations for the award by March 3, 2008. Nominations should highlight the nominee's accomplishments, achievements and contributions. Letters of nomination must address the following criteria:

Teaching effectiveness

·  Models innovative teaching techniques

·  Demonstrates a knowledge of the discipline

·  Sets realistic expectations for students

·  Shows an enthusiasm for teaching

·  Motivates and instills a love of learning

Interpersonal skills

·  Respects students

·  Shows a personal interest in students

·  Provides a fair, trustworthy atmosphere for learning

·  Inspires students to achieve

·  Makes a positive impact in the lives of students

Scholarly growth

·  Writes grants

·  Writes for professional publications

·  Makes presentations at professional conferences

Service to the University

·  Participates on departmental and university-wide committees

·  Assumes a leadership role within the university

·  Shows a commitment to projects that benefit the university

Contributions to the community/region
