Louis C. Cole Auditorium -- Memorial Hall
The Louis C. Cole Auditorium -- Memorial Hall (formerly called Memorial Auditorium) was completed in 1941 and named in honor of the men and women who served the country in war. The unique mural-covered ceiling, completed during the building's construction by New York City artist Alfred James Tulk, depicts the development of knowledge through the ages.
The building recently received a $2.8 million renovation funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania which included the construction of an adjoining rehearsal room, improvements in the air conditioning, sound and lighting systems, refurbished seating and a new sound shell.
The University recognized Louis Cole, a 1965 Edinboro graduate, for his professional success and philanthropic support including a gift of $1 million in 2001, the largest unrestricted gift in the school's history. A bust of Mr. Cole stands in the lobby of the Auditorium.
