Associate of Arts Degree
Liberal Studies
This associate degree is designed to meet the needs of persons seeking a two year
program of higher education and accompanying credentials. The objectives of the
program are:
to develop communication and computation skills;
to encourage informed decision-making in personal and work-related lives;
to develop proficiencies in observation, appreciation, and critical judg-
ments;
to discover and develop specialized interests;
to provide an environment within which academic maturity can develop;
to develop competencies and skills in career related areas;
to provide means of retraining for new careers and avocations.
Curriculum
This program may be satisfied in two ways. Track A is satisfied by the comple-
tion of any of over 50 University-approved minors. Track B is satisfied by the
completion of 18 hours of advanced humanities courses (non-remedial courses
that are neither general education skills nor core courses) from at least four disci-
plines: Art, English and Theatre Arts, Foreign Languages, History, Music,
Philosophy, or Speech Communications.

Natural Sciences and Mathematics
This program provides students with a broad background in the fundamentals of
science and mathematics and yet allows great flexibility. As a non-departmental
curriculum, it facilitates inter-disciplinary study and also provides for the oppor-
tunity to concentrate in one area. The initial program must be planned in consul-
tation with the student's faculty advisor and approved by the dean of Science,
Management and Technology.

Specialized Studies
The BASS degree program is an appealing alternative for students who have: 1)
unique career goals which cannot be met through any other course of study at the
University, and 2) circumstances which preclude the completion of another
degree program in the traditional manner.
Students in the BASS degree program select and combine courses into concen-
tration areas appropriate to their career pursuits.

II. Specialized Studies Concentration

A. No more than 24 semester hours of the same course prefix may be used.
Introductory courses may not be used to fulfill specialized studies con-
centration.
B. Courses used in the specialized studies concentration cannot be used to
fulfill a minor program requirement.
C. Students wishing to gain job related experience in the specialized stud-
ies concentration may apply for an internship (SPST395). The nature of
the experience and time spent at the internship site determines the num-
ber of credits which can be earned. Students enrolled in the specialized
studies program must complete a minimum of 64 semester hours (with
at least 16 of the hours completed at Edinboro University) to be con-
sidered for internship placement. Additionally, a cumulative QPA of a
2.0 with at least a QPA of 2.5 in the specialized studies concentration is
required.
